Use the CAD paper-size chart correctly
This chart compares ISO A0-A4, ANSI A-E and ARCH A-E/E1 nominal sheet sizes in millimetres and inches. Use it to identify the physical sheet before choosing orientation, Page Setup media and a large-format roll width.
Nominal size is not printable area
A 24 × 36 in ARCH D sheet is not automatically a 24 × 36 in printable rectangle. The driver and device add non-printable margins, so title blocks near the edge should be checked against the actual printable area.
Validate the final output
Match the Page Setup media name to the intended standard, confirm portrait or landscape orientation, and use the Printable Area or Plot Margin calculator when border clearance matters.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this as a substitute for checking the final PDF?
No. It is a reference; the final output still needs a known-dimension or scale check.
Can I print the chart itself?
Yes. It is formatted as a printable PDF reference.
Does the paper chart show printable area?
No. It shows nominal sheet dimensions because printable area depends on the selected driver/device.
