A practical diagnostic sequence

Step 1 — Check Plan Production upstream

Where: Plan Production tools / View Frame Group

Do this: Confirm the view frames, match-line coverage and intended plan/profile arrangement before diagnosing the printer.

Check: The generated sheet extents are based on the correct production setup.

Step 2 — Verify the production template

Where: Create Sheets workflow / DWT

Do this: Confirm the template has the required plan/profile viewport types, title block, paper size and Page Setup.

Check: Civil 3D is generating the right kind of Layout.

Step 3 — Inspect the generated Layouts

Where: Generated plan/profile Layouts

Do this: Check viewport content, plan/profile scales, labels, bands and match lines.

Check: The problem is not already present before Preview.

Step 4 — Publish a PDF subset

Where: Sheet Set Manager / PUBLISH

Do this: Test representative first, middle, last and raster-heavy sheets before publishing the complete set.

Check: Page sizes, scales and output appearance are consistent in PDF.

Step 5 — Test large-format hardware

Where: Known-good PDF + plotter

Do this: Print one calibration sheet at 100% using the real roll or paper size.

Check: Physical margins, media source and driver behavior are proven before the full run.
