AutoCAD Page Setup Manager Explained
Page Setup Manager is where AutoCAD stores reusable plotting setups for a Layout. A named Page Setup can hold the printer or PDF device, paper size, plot area, plot scale, orientation, plot style table and other output options.
Start here — what you are going to do
Your goal: Understand the buttons in Page Setup Manager and inspect the settings that control a Layout.
Where to start: Open a real Layout that already plots correctly, if possible.
Beginner rule: Do not change anything on the first pass. First identify the current named Page Setup and read what it stores.
Step by step — follow this in AutoCAD
Step 1 — Open the Layout
Where: Bottom drawing tabs > click the Layout you want to inspect.
Do this: Use a real production sheet so paper and plot settings have context.
Check: The intended Layout is active.
Step 2 — Open Page Setup Manager
Where: Ribbon > Output > Plot > Page Setup Manager, or type PAGESETUP.
Do this: Look at Current Page Setup and the list of named setups.
Check: You can see which setup is current for the Layout.
Step 3 — Select a named Page Setup
Where: Page Setup Manager > Page Setups list.
Do this: Click the setup you want to inspect. Read the Details area if shown.
Check: The device and page-size summary match the setup you selected.
Step 4 — Click Modify
Where: Page Setup Manager > Modify.
Do this: Read Printer/Plotter, Paper Size, Plot Area, Plot Scale, Plot Style Table and orientation.
Check: You understand what this Page Setup will send to the output device.
Step 5 — Use Set Current only when intended
Where: Back in Page Setup Manager > select a named setup > Set Current.
Do this: Apply another setup only when the Layout really should use it.
Check: The Layout is associated with the intended setup.
Step 6 — Use Import when the setup is missing
Where: Page Setup Manager > Import.
Do this: Choose a DWG, DWT or supported source file, then select the named setup to import.
Check: The missing setup becomes available in this drawing.
Step 7 — Preview before production
Where: Ctrl+P > Preview.
Do this: Check border, orientation, plot style and scale before PDF or paper output.
Check: The stored setup produces the expected sheet.
Beginner example
A working A1 Layout is a good teacher. Open Page Setup Manager, select its A1-PDF-MONO setup, click Modify and read the device, A1 paper, Layout plot area, 1:1 sheet scale and CTB that make the sheet repeatable.

Current Page Setup tells you what the Layout is using
Do not assume the first setup in the list is active. Read the current association before troubleshooting.
New, Modify, Set Current and Import do different jobs
New creates a named setup. Modify edits one. Set Current applies the selected named setup to the current Layout. Import brings named setups from another drawing or template.
Named Page Setups reduce repeated Plot-dialog choices
Once a setup is proven, compatible Layouts can reuse the same device, paper and plot-style recipe instead of rebuilding it at every print.

Keep approved named Page Setups in a controlled DWT or standards DWG. Give them clear names such as A1-PDF-MONO and test them on a representative Layout before wider use.
