AutoCAD Page Setup for Beginners: What It Stores and Why It Matters
A Page Setup is a saved group of output settings. It keeps you from rebuilding the same printer, paper, area, scale, plot style and orientation every time.
Start here — what you are going to do
Your goal: Create one repeatable Page Setup and understand what it does not control.
Where to start: Bottom tabs > Layout.
Beginner rule: Follow the steps in order. Do not change several plotting settings at once. After an important change, use Preview or make one test output before continuing.
Step by step — follow this in AutoCAD
Step 1 — Open the Layout
Where: Bottom tabs > Layout.
Do this: Choose one real sheet.
Check: The paper sheet is active.
Step 2 — Open Page Setup Manager
Where: Output > Plot > Page Setup Manager or PAGESETUP.

Do this: Choose approved CTB/STB and Portrait/Landscape.
Check: Preview resembles office standard.
Step 7 — Save and apply
Where: OK > select setup > Set Current.
Do this: Apply it to the active Layout.
Check: The Layout now uses a repeatable setup.

After one A1 monochrome PDF works correctly, save those choices as a named Page Setup such as “A1 PDF MONO”. The next time you print that Layout, reuse the setup instead of rebuilding the device, paper, scale and CTB from memory.
