How to Auto-Publish AutoCAD PDFs on Save or Close
AutoCAD Auto Publish can automatically create DWF, DWFx or PDF output when a drawing is saved or closed according to Automatic Publish Settings. Use it only when destination, included Layouts and file format are appropriate for the workflow.

Your goal: Configure automatic PDF publishing without generating unwanted or outdated packages.
Where to start: Decide exactly when automatic output should occur and where files should be stored.
Beginner rule: Automatic publishing repeats whatever standard you give it. Configure Page Setups first and test on a nonproduction drawing.
Step by step — follow this in AutoCAD
Step 1 — Open Options
Where: OPTIONS > Plot and Publish tab.
Do this: Open Automatic Publish Settings.
Check: Auto Publish controls are visible.
Step 2 — Choose publish timing
Where: Publish on.
Do this: Select Save, Close or a prompt option.
Check: Trigger matches workflow.
Step 3 — Choose output location

Do this: Set layer and merge options according to policy.
Check: Automatic output matches standards.
Step 7 — Test save or close
Where: Test DWG.
Do this: Trigger Auto Publish and inspect the PDF.
Check: Timing, location, pages and appearance are correct.

A coordination drawing may automatically create an internal review PDF when it closes. Send that PDF to a dedicated review folder, not the formal issue folder, unless the document-control process explicitly uses Auto Publish.
