A practical diagnostic sequence

Step 1 — Check the Layout and viewport

Where: Layout tab

Do this: Confirm the title block, viewport content and intended viewport scale before opening Plot.

Check: The sheet already looks correct in Paper Space.

Step 2 — Check the saved Page Setup

Where: PAGESETUP > Modify

Do this: Verify the output device or PC3, final paper size, Layout as the plot area, 1:1 paper output and the intended CTB/STB.

Check: No Fit to Paper or wrong Page Setup is changing the prepared sheet.

Step 3 — Verify plot styles

Where: Page Setup / Plot dialog

Do this: Confirm the correct CTB or STB is selected and that plot styles and lineweights are enabled as required.

Check: Preview shows the intended black/color output and line hierarchy.

Step 4 — Create a PDF checkpoint

Where: PLOT / Preview / approved PDF configuration

Do this: Preview the full border, then create a PDF and measure one known dimension.

Check: The PDF has the correct paper size, scale, border, text and lineweights.

Step 5 — Test the physical plotter last

Where: PDF viewer + printer/plotter driver

Do this: Print the known-good PDF at Actual Size / 100% with the matching paper or roll.

Check: If only paper is wrong, keep the DWG and viewport unchanged and troubleshoot the driver/media path.
